• Our Promise

String of Pearls was created to provide a nurturing and safe place for families as they navigate the path following a fatal prenatal diagnosis that will result in the death of their baby prior to, or shortly after birth. The path between grief and hope is a difficult place to walk; our desire is to provide guidance, compassion and practical suggestions as plans to honor the life of pre-born babies are crafted. Each life has a story worth telling and we are here for support as stories are lovingly written.

Marin Anne

Although Marin only lived 24 days, we found great significance and joy in the gift of her life, and having her be part of our family. We are thankful we were chosen to be Marin’s parents, and that she spent the days of her life at home with us being continually held and loved.

Our daughter, Marin Anne, was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 (also known as Edwards Syndrome) 35 weeks along in my pregnancy. My husband and I felt shock and fear, as it was hard to believe that our unborn child had a condition that would cause her premature death. Our grieving began as we anticipated and planned for saying hello and goodbye to Marin. We prayed for the gift of time, hoping for minutes or hours with her at the hospital. Marin was born on her due date and survived birth. Although she was considered medically fragile, she was stable and came home with us two days later. While we had her at home, we felt a great urgency to share Marin with others and enjoy our time with her. Although Marin only lived 24 days, we found great significance and joy in the gift of her life, and having her be part of our family. The hope, comfort, and healing we received was beyond measure as we navigated our journey with our daughter. Most of all, we thank our Father in heaven who gave us such a great gift, our daughter Marin Anne, to love and care for, and share with others, for 24 days.
